We are also open to suggestions so please feel free to assist us in our endeavours.
Biodiversity is essential for the processes that support all life on Earth, including humans. Without a wide range of animals, plants and microorganisms, we cannot have the healthy ecosystems that we rely on to provide us with the air we breathe and the food we eat.
We encourage wildlife in our gardens. We have built a bug hotel and you can see the bat, bird and bee boxes around our gardens. Our gardener creates areas to encourage wildlife. We recycle and compost and use products such as eggshells and coffee grounds in the garden. We collect rainwater in butts.
Our Gardener uses natural methods to control weeds. Our trees are maintained and if we have to remove a tree we plant a native species such as Rowan Trees’s.
We monitor our water usage and are pleased to report that it has reduced over the last five years and can put that down to the introduction of dual flush in toilets and increase in showers in place of baths.
Responsible procurement policies are in place and we monitor suppliers for “green credentials”.
We have installed A Rated Boilers, the Electricity Supplied is Zero Carbon and we have installed a Voltage Optimiser to reduce our energy usage.
We donate our old furniture to projects such as Furniture Plus and support local initiatives, we recently donated a Bug Hotel to Duloch Primary School.
